Description
Chinese wood-fired pottery is a traditional ceramic firing technique in China, characterized by the use of wood as fuel to create unique patterns and colors on the pottery through continuous control of firing temperature and combustion process. Here are some descriptions of Chinese wood-fired pottery:

Long history: Chinese wood-fired pottery has a history dating back to the Tang Dynasty, which is over 1,000 years old.

Firing method: Chinese wood-fired pottery firing methods are mainly divided into two types, high-temperature firing and low-temperature firing. High-temperature firing is generally carried out above 1,200℃, requiring high-quality raw materials and sophisticated firing techniques. Low-temperature firing, on the other hand, is usually fired using ordinary clay below 1,000℃.

Unique patterns and colors: Due to various changes during the combustion process, Chinese wood-fired pottery often has unique patterns and colors. The surface of high-temperature wood-fired pottery is often gray-black or metallic, while the surface of low-temperature wood-fired pottery presents various colors, such as green, red-brown, and so on.

Cultural significance: Chinese wood-fired pottery is not only a ceramic firing technique but also an important part of traditional Chinese culture. Wood-fired pottery is often combined with elements of Chinese traditional culture such as mountains, rivers, and nature, reflecting the natural harmony and beauty of Chinese culture.

In summary, Chinese wood-fired pottery is a treasure in Chinese ceramic culture, not only reflecting the profound cultural heritage of ancient China but also demonstrating the continuous exploration and pursuit of natural beauty by Chinese ceramic artists.

Notice
the producing process of “wood fired” which is very special. When we produce a batch of teacups, we used the same martial of each cup with painted the same glaze, then put them into the enclosed clay jars, finally sent it into the calcining kiln to fire for three times. The color of the cups was random, we may call it as “ kaleidoscopic”, depended on the weather, humidity and so many different details from outside. We were not sure the color of each cup until we opened the jar at last. The only thing we can make sure is the shape of each cup. So every wood fired was unique and collectable. On the other side, if we sold the same color cups, we have had to paint the cup later period by machine, that means the cup are not made by hand naturally.
